IPL Postponed due to lock down in India

The Indian Premier League 2020 faces further uncertainty, possibly even cancellation, as India entered a three-week lockdown due to the rapidly spreading Coronavirus pandemic. The 13th IPL season, originally scheduled to start on March 29, was deferred until April 15. Due to the nationwide lockdown, it is becoming increasingly difficult for stakeholders of the IPL to chart an alternate plan.

On Tuesday (March 24) evening, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said, “I can’t say anything at the moment. We are at the same place where we were on the day we postponed. Nothing has changed in the last ten days. So, I don’t have an answer to it.

IPL Postponed:

A teleconference was held between Ganguly and representatives of the eight franchises last week but rescheduled due to coronavirus.
On March 14, one of the eight options discussed at the IPL Governing Council meeting was to extend the tournament window till late May.

All the Sporting events have been affected due to the coronavirus pandemic.
