Lahore Qalandars PSL Team Full Report

Lahore Qalandars (LQ) is the cricket franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), representing Lahore city of Pakistan. Qatar Lubricants Company Limited is the owner of the franchise Lahore Qalandars & its home stadium is Gaddafi ground. Sohail Akhtar was the team captain after being replaced by Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Coach:

A former Pakistani cricketer Aaqib Javed is the coach of the team. Lahore Qalandars is the second most expensive franchise owned by international companies. The leading run-scorer was awarded to Fakhar Zaman & the leading wicket-taker to Shaheen Shah Afridi. The Lahore franchise was purchased for ten years by Qatar Lubricants Company for US$ 215.1 million. 

Award:

In 2016 Lahore Qalandars won the awards “Spirit of the game” and the “Fair play Award”. LQ failed to win the tournament but still got more awards for the best sportsmanship throughout the tournament. However, the team was unable to succeed in 2017, 2018 and 2019 but reached to final in 2020, where defeated by Karachi Kings by five wickets.

Fawad Rana, the team’s owner, launched the team on 12 December 2015. Both “Qatar” and “QALCO” are represented by the ‘Q’  in “Qalandars”, & the name Qalandar also depicts the Sufi Culture of Lahore. The team’s logo shows the Sufi culture and the interest in Sufism in this region.

Lahore Qalandars Team Kit:

Red and black were the kit’s colours in the first season & changed to green in the second season. 

Lahore Qalandars & Karachi Kings:

The rivalry between Qalandars and Kings is considered the greatest rivalry in PSL because of their economic and cultural activities.
