LAHORE: The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 will once again feature the best of Pakistan cricket talent as the new categories of local players who took part in the PSL 2020 season have been finalised.
For the PSL 2020 season, Babar Azam, the recent Pakistan T20 captain, leads the Platinum category; team-mates Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali (top wicket-taker in PSL 2019), Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan have graduated to the Platinum category. As part of the category renewal process, local player categories voted by one representative from each of the six franchises. Players were not permitted to vote by their own franchise representatives.
After the end of this process, the teams had a right to submit review requests. Imran Ahmed Khan (Head of player acquisition and management) and Nadeem Khan (national selection coordinator) then reviewed the final list based on this process.
Well, the two-step player category renewal process was considered based on the various factors such as HBL PSL performances, domestic performances, national team performances and perceived T20 brand value.
Those were assigned a base category of Gold who have donned the Pakistan colours. Each team has opportunity to retain up eight players from last year’s roster according to this year’s draft rules.
